Whilst Fairgrounds strives to inflame the passion of music lovers, it also aspires to feed the fertile minds of our little rockers. Little Fairgrounds is a designated festival within a festival, just for kids.
Children can sing like the stars on our indie-kids karaoke stage, experience the fun and excitement of the vibrant circus area, challenge your friends in the paper plane flying competition, pick up a musical instrument and jam in a band. If you still have energy to burn then there’s still lots on offer at Little Fairgrounds. Take to the Little Fairgrounds Sports Field and challenge your friends to one of the many games on offer. Be entertained at the Little Fairgrounds Stage with live music, performers, magic shows and book readings from our very special guests. Show your creative side with craft activities, get your festival face on with our team of face painters, dig in to the kid-friendly food at the tuck shop and, once the food has gone down, have a giant slide-ride and jump, jump, jump around on the big things to bounce on!
Little Fairgrounds also offers a parents room and child minding services to keep everyone happily entertained.
Friday 8 December: 7:30pm – 10:30pm
Saturday 9 December: 7:30pm – 10:30pm
At sunset, the other Little Fairgrounds attractions are tucked up ready for bed and Fairgrounds Cinema Under The Stars opens its doors to those who are keen to sit back, relax and watch a family friendly movie or two.
Housed in our famous Sparkle Marquee, with free movies screening from 7.30pm – 10.30pm, the Cinema Under The Stars is the latest fun addition to the expanded Little Fairgrounds line up. Our nearby Tuckshop will be open for cinema goers to buy snacks and treats for the movies, while our friends at Serendipity will also be at the cinema selling their delicious ice creams, so swing on by and feel free to bring a cushion to settle down and get comfy. Please note Fairgrounds cinema is not a supervised area, please provide supervision for children.

The workshop includes two craft projects that are perfect for creative kids and adults alike! As a sweet treat for workshop attendees, this will also be the launch of issue #9 of Lunch Lady magazine, with each group receiving a goodie bag with the new mag! Hoorah!

Record Club is back at Fairgrounds 2017 and better than ever! Across two intimate, RSVP-only sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to get up close and personal with Gang of Youths’ David Le’aupepe and Marlon Williams. Join an intimate conversation with the artists themselves as they discuss one hand-picked record that changed their music careers.
Session #1 – David Le’aupepe
When: 4:00pm – 4:30pm, Sat 9 Dec
Talking: Wilco ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’ (2001)
Session 1 will feature Gang Of Youths frontman David Le’aupepe sharing his adoration of Wilco’s landmark album, ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’ (2001).
Led by Chicago’s Jeff Tweedy, Wilco overcame turbulent relationships within the band and with their major label en route to independently releasing their fourth LP. Marrying their alt-country roots with vivid experimentation, ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’ is widely hailed as one of the best albums of the 2000s.
Session #2 – Marlon Williams
When: 6:30pm – 7:00pm, Sat 9 Dec
Talking: Bob Carpenter ‘Silent Passage’ (1974/1984)
Recorded in 1974, ‘Silent Passage’ was pressed and due to be released by Warner Bros before a contractual standoff between Carpenter and his producer saw it cancelled. Considered a lost classic by many, the record was unearthed for most listeners via its 2014 re-issue, where the wider world finally discovered its dark, mystic, grieving folk-rock and country. Sadly, Carpenter passed away in 1995, too soon to experience his long-earned moment in the sun.
Spots are strictly limited, RSVP TO RECORD CLUB HERE
Saturday, 9 November – 5:15pm – 5:45pm
Join the local beer legends from Young Henrys for their exclusive tasting session at Whiskey Club. Whether you fancy yourself a connoisseur or want to fine tune your tasting skills, just a few spots are available for the tasting of two limited edition bottles of whiskey, created and presented to you by the founders of your favourite craft beer! Savour a fine dram and you’ll be speaking the whiskey lingo in no time!
Whiskey Club spots are now at capacity and we are no longer taking RSVPs. If you are successful with your RSVP, we’ll be in contact in the next week with more info.
